It is said that Apple Vision Pro enables the construction of development environments using Unity. Therefore, I will share the Unity AR Foundation basic course I created in 2021.

This content was originally created and released for free in 2021 with the personal goal of promoting AR technology, so it may not match the current situation or Unity versions.

Keeping these points in mind, let's take a look.

The Unity versions used in these courses are 2020.2.2f1, and the videos were created in an Apple Mac mini M1 environment.

  1. Introduce Unity AR Foundation.
  1. Setting up the development environment for using AR Foundation
  1. Verifying Debug Features for AR Development
  1. This is a throwing ball example to try interaction using Unity in an AR environment.
  1. Learn about Raycast Hit for interaction in AR environments.
  1. Learn how to create planes through AR interaction.
  1. Learn how to perform image tracking in an AR environment.
  1. Learn about multi-image tracking in an AR environment.
  1. Learn how to delete objects during AR image tracking.
  1. To interact with the AR environment, let's implement the spatial drawing functionality.
  1. To interact with the AR environment, we will create and use a spatial ruler.

12. Let's obtain information about automatically recognized planes through AR spatial recognition.

  1. Try placing furniture in the AR space classified as planes.

This video was originally free content shared in the past for everyone to view.

At the time, AR Foundation was just starting to gain traction with updates, and there were not many good quality courses available in the Korean language. (I assume there are many now.) So, leveraging my past experience creating virtual reality content and conducting offline AR-related courses, I created and released this content to make it easily accessible to everyone.

I know that this actually received a lot of views from developers developing AR Foundation in Korea and was of great help.

Then around the end of 2021, when I participated as a judge at an XR content creation event, I was shocked to remember that several teams had submitted their entries by simply changing the design of the examples from the materials I had shared for personal study, without crediting the source, while I was in the position of having to judge them.

Since the course project was shared for learning purposes, there would have been no issue if I had asked for permission and cited the source according to the intended use.. However, the team has not contacted me since that review.

Based on my limited experience, I believe the issue is not solely the support team's fault, but rather due to the low awareness of licenses in our country.

Actually, many people have contacted me before using these resources, and they also have a proper understanding of licenses.

Anyway, at the time, I didn't know how to solve this problem, so I put it back to private and put my thoughts on hold.

Of course, I have received many inquiries asking why I haven't shared any videos since then, but for some reason... I couldn't make up my mind, so I kept it private until now.

With the arrival of Vision Pro, many developers are expected to regain interest in the field, and I hope my past course content will be of some help, so I am sharing it again.

If I get the chance, I should create an AR Foundation course that fits the current time.

I hope this helps someone, and if you use it, please be sure to inquire or give credit to the source.

Suppliers like me live on that recognition and respect.
