I recently made a piggy bank for my son using the elephant modeling DIY I introduced a while ago.

Although this elephant modeling was created quite a while ago, I was fortunate that the original Blender source remained, so I was able to easily create a piggy bank shape in Blender with just a few settings.

However, because the bottom was not made flat initially, I struggled with how to configure the coin removal hole, so I created a separate socket as shown in the photo below.

When making it this way, if the size is too exact, there may not be enough play for it to be installed properly, so I heated it with a lighter to make it a little soft and then fixed it with instant adhesive after installation.

이렇게 완성된 저금통에는 이제 동전을 넣을 수도 있고, 구멍을 좀 넉넉하게 크게 만들어줘서 지폐도 접어서 넣을 수 있도록 해주었다.

Actually, since people rarely use coins these days, it was quite a hassle to deal with them. However, by saving coins in this piggy bank, I can teach my son about money and, once it's full, show him how to go to the bank to deposit it.

And since the large version felt too big, I also made a medium version as a gift for someone nearby. Changing the color also gave it a different charm.

The bottom part was also made with a structure that allows it to be opened, but for the small version, it seems fine to make this part out of TPU to make it a bit easier to open (?).

Actually, I had the idea for this DIY three years ago, but I kept putting it off because I was lazy, and since my son didn't really understand the concept of a piggy bank, I didn't push it forward. It seems like the timing was finally right to get it done.

As I raise my child, I have come to realize that timing is ultimately everything in life..

The problem is that now that it's made, I'm already thinking about the next version.. I guess it's because I'm too busy lately and don't have time ㅠㅠ

At least I have to print this out and give it to my son's friends as a gift.
