이번 발표에서 개인적으로 가장 기대하던 퀘스트 프로가 발표되면서 또 하나 개인적으로는 놀라운 공식적인 발표는 바로 MS 와의 협업 발표 였다.

And shortly after, a familiar face to those interested in MS... CEO Satya Nadella makes a surprise appearance.

– Horizon Workrooms, Meta's VR spatial service, will integrate with Teams.
– Mbox cloud gaming will be available on Quest within a few months.
– M365 productivity apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be available on Quest devices in a streaming format.
Actually, from the beginning of the year, there were conflicts regarding the personnel shifts between MS and Meta, rumors that MS had given up on HoloLens 3 development, rumors that they were proposing a new approach in collaboration with Samsung, and news that Alex Kipman, the head of HoloLens development, had left MS for bad reasons, etc. The outlook for MS in the Mixed Reality field, which had been leading hardware & software, seemed unclear.
Although I am also one of the few domestic MR MVPs at MS.. well.. I felt frustrated as Mesh updates were not going well at that time, but news that the market is expanding in this way is very welcome from a user's perspective.
Actually, Microsoft announced a new version of MRTK, version 3, around the middle of this year, and I understand that the core of this is that it shows a direction in which it can support a wider variety of devices.
While we won't know for sure until the product is released and used, it remains to be seen whether the Quest Pro will integrate with the MR development environment established by the HoloLens 2, and it is also intriguing to imagine what the metaverse development environment will look like as Meta and Microsoft collaborate.
And with high probability, Apple Glass, which is expected to truly appear next year (or... who knows what will happen..?), has a market impact. It is also curious whether Microsoft, in alliance with Meta and Samsung Electronics, will unfold a new battle based on new devices, similar to the past Apple vs. Google Android ecosystem battle.
Whatever the outcome, from the user's perspective, it would be best if better devices with more support were released, which is a highly anticipated aspect.
Since I already pre-ordered the Quest Pro, I'll be able to receive it by the end of October.. I need to get it quickly and test it by uploading MRTK 3. There's so much studying and research to do.. It's going to be a very hectic end of the year.
